About us

Flow Yoga began early in 2023 as Kate began her BWY teacher training. Having practiced yoga most of her adult life, she wanted to learn more about the philosophy behind the practice and this led to her moving towards her 500 hour British Wheel of Yoga teacher training.

Kate believes that yoga is a physical practice that gives space for the mind and body. Using Asanas (poses) to support the exploration of breath and relaxation, Yoga is an opportunity to quiet the mind, to explore the body and to attempt to free oneself from the business of every day life.

Kates methodology is one that is totally inclusive. All groups are mixed ability and all Asanas are attained through a staged approach. We flow at our own pace, supported by our breath. We include a breathing practice and relaxation practice in every class.

Flow Yoga aims to equip you with a thorough personal practice.

About Flow Yoga

Kate Coogan

My name is Kate Coogan.  I have an MA in Directing and a BA in Acting. I have been an actor, writer, theatre director and teacher for over 30 years. Having worked somatically for all that time and being an avid Yoga student for over 20 years, I felt now was the time to follow my dream of teaching yoga and inviting others to experience the flow that has accompanied me through my life.  I find myself mid life experiencing a change not just philosophically but physically. I have found yoga to be a constant support over the years and now I want to share that skill and passion with others.

What to expect

We begin every session with a short 10 min breathing practice, it allows us time to become present in the space after what may be a busy morning/day/evening.

We move into Asanas (poses) in our own time. All classes are mixed ability and modifications are offered for all students.

We finish our practice with a 15/20 minute relaxation practice. We all need space in our day to relax and this practice will equip you with the skills to find space not only on the mat but in every day life.

We leave a little space for reflection of your practice. This is always encouraged but never expected.

Flow Yoga is a safe space for any ability, any body, any age.

We know some days are easier than others and that is reflected in our body. We take care of ourselves and aim to show up on our mat with kindness. There will be no pushing, there will be no straining. We will work to the edge of our ability and we will always have the choice to step out of the practice if needs be. I will offer modifications using blocks, belts and chairs meaning we will all experience the practice in a equitable way.

The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) is a membership organisation and a charity, serving people who want to discover more about yoga.

Our mission is to promote the greater understanding of yoga and its safe practice through education, experience, study and training.

Whether you’re looking for a community where you can explore and practice yoga, you’re a teacher or want to teach,  there’s a membership and pathway for you with us.

For more than 50 years the BWY has been a volunteer-led organisation with a grassroots network of yoga people, creating events, training opportunities and community – from Inverness to Southampton, from Cardiff to Norwich.

We are the National Governing Body for Yoga in England and Wales. We were awarded NGB status in 1995 by the Sports Council (now Sport England).
